The Gut-Serotonin Connection

Recent research continues to highlight the value of maintaining a healthy gut. As it turns out, our gut health is important for more than just digestion. The healthy microbes that inhabit our digestive system play a variety of roles in the human body. They impact our immune system, inflammation, metabolism, and more. 

Serotonin, a neurotransmitter that plays a role in our mood, is produced primarily in the gut. This further exhibits the strong connection between our gut and our brain, known as the gut-brain axis (GBA).
